You Don’t Need to Believe in Reiki — You Just Need to Be Open to Receiving
One thing I often get asked is: “Do I have to believe in Reiki for it to work?”
And honestly… no, you don’t.
Reiki isn’t about belief or having a certain spiritual background. You don’t have to understand energy, chakras, auras, or anything at all. And you definitely don’t need to convince yourself of something just to “make it work.”
What does make a difference is simply being open.
Not wide open or deeply spiritual, just gently open.
Open to trying.
Open to relaxing.
Open to seeing how it feels.
Think about it like sunlight. The sun warms your skin whether or not you “believe” in the sun. Or like a massage, your muscles soften even if you don’t know anything about how muscles work. Reiki is similar. Your body naturally knows how to move back toward balance when it’s given the space to do so.
When someone comes in and says, “I’m not sure about this, but I’m willing to try,” that’s more than enough.
But when someone arrives completely shut down with arms crossed, mind closed, not willing to let anything in, it’s like trying to pour water into a cup with the lid on. The energy doesn’t have space to move.
So no, Reiki doesn’t need your belief. It just needs your willingness to receive.
The rest happens quietly, gently, and in its own way.
Some of my biggest transformations with clients have actually been with people who said, “I don’t know if I believe in this, but something told me to come.” They let themselves soften, and their system did what it naturally knows how to do, heal, release and rebalance.
Reiki meets you exactly where you are: tired, curious, sceptical, emotional, hopeful, all of it is welcome.
You don’t need to believe.
You just need to allow.
Even a little openness is enough.
